The historic halls of The Sessions House were filled with suspense and applause last week, on Tuesday, 9th September, as we had the distinct pleasure of hosting the St Nicolas Players for their charity performance of "The Curse of the Mummy’s Mummy." The event was a tremendous success, drawing a wonderful crowd and proving once again that Spalding has a vibrant heart for the arts.

A Captivating Performance in a Unique Setting
Written by Kei Bailey, "The Curse of the Mummy’s Mummy" transported a captivated audience back to 1895. The story, following the intrepid explorer Montgomery Bladderwicke as he sought to save the village of Crumpleton from an ancient curse, was brought to life in a unique radio-play format. Guests were given a rare glimpse into the magic of a studio recording, performed live in two parts.
The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many complimenting the brilliant performance by the St Nicolas Players and the wonderful ambiance of the setting. It was a fantastic evening of community, culture, and charity, and we were honoured to be a part of it.

More Than Just a Wedding Venue in Spalding
While The Sessions House is widely known as one of the premier wedding venues in Spalding and Lincolnshire, this special event showcased the building's incredible versatility. The historic grandeur that provides a romantic backdrop for weddings also created the perfect, atmospheric setting for a 19th-century mystery. We were thrilled to demonstrate how our unique space can be transformed for theatrical performances, fundraisers, and other special community events.
This successful evening highlights the fantastic range of what's on in Spalding. We are proud to support local groups like the St Nicolas Players and look forward to hosting many more diverse and exciting events in the future.
