About the Owners
Erika and Andrew's journey to The Sessions House began with a search for family and community after long international careers.

Drawn to Spalding by Andrew’s roots in the area, they were looking for more than just a new venture; they wanted a place with heart. The moment they saw this building, with its history etched into every wall, waiting to be filled with life again, they knew they’d found it. Together, they are dedicated to creating something truly special for the people of Spalding and the surrounding areas.

This building is a reflection of their own story. Andrew feels the weight and purpose of history in the grand, wood-panelled courtroom, with its soaring ceiling and intricate details. For Erika, the Chinoiserie library—a beautiful mix of East and West—mirrors her own journey from China to the US, and now to her home here in the UK. It is our greatest hope that as you explore each unique room, you too will find a space that speaks to you.

About Our Heritage
Standing proudly in the heart of Spalding since 1843, The Sessions House is a landmark not just of architecture, but of history. Commissioned as the original courthouse for the district, this magnificent Grade II* listed building was designed by architects Charles Kirk and Thomas Taylor in a grand, Gothic revival style to reflect its civic importance.

For nearly 150 years, justice for the Parts of Holland was dispensed within these storied walls. From the imposing, four-storey tower topped with its elegant cupolas, to the Royal coat of arms carved in Ancaster stone, every detail was designed to inspire a sense of reverence and authority. The ornate courtroom, with its vaulted, timber-panelled ceiling and towering windows, remains one of the finest examples of its kind in the country.

Did you know the famous strongman Geoff Capes once worked here? Did you know The Sessions House was the gas mask distribution centre during WW2 and we still have the metal anti-aircraft gun emplacements on the towers? And up to date, The Sessions House has witnessed over 20,000 marriages, including when the registrar office was located here.
